Claricia Coeries—Graduated 2007 |

& College Entrance Certificate with Exemption. & 2010: Completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media, Communications and Culture at NMMU. & 2011: Post Graduate Certificate in Education. & Besides becoming an English teacher, I also want to pursue a career in journalism. & I would also love to travel and teach abroad. & Being a student at Fountain of Life and receiving a Biblically-based education is something that has set me up for life. & There, I not only learnt values and morals, but I also learnt how to put them into practice in the face of ridicule. & I learnt the principles of goal setting, perseverance, and always aiming for excellence. & The life outside of school has not been easy – not everyone out there comes from a Christian home or a Christian school! & My faith was severely challenged over the last three years, as well as my character. & Lectures challenged my Christian beliefs, and often encouraged me to research the validity of the Bible. Discussions in classes openly ridiculed the Christian faith. & But the firm foundation of a Biblical upbringing and schooling has helped me thrive and grow even stronger in Christ. I know my Redeemer lives! And nothing can sway me from my faith in Jesus Christ. & Thank you, Fountain of Life, for the seeds you have sown in my life. They will continue to grow. |

& I started attending Fountain of Life Christian School in 2000 in Grade 4. & Due to the fact that I had epilepsy from a very early age and undergoing brain surgery in 2001 and 2002, I was challenged in my school work, thus I could only finish Grade 9 and received a Vocational Certificate in 2007. & I believe and know with all my heart, that if I had stayed in the public school system, I would have been part of the drop-out statistics of our country. Because of my medical circumstances, I would have been left to fight for myself. & With the ACE program I could work at my own pace academically. Emotionally and spiritually I was encouraged by the staff. & In 2008, I was granted the opportunity to start working as a teacher’s assistant (Monitor) at Fountain of Life Christian School in the Grade 1 class. I then monitored in the Grade 2 & 3 and Grade 3 & 4 classes. & This year (2011) I have been promoted to Grade 0 teacher. & I love working with children and believe with all my heart that I am living out the God-given call on my life. & Next year I intend starting my E.C.D. studies which will give me an N3 qualification, and will further equip me in my calling. & I believe that FOLCS was instrumental in my life. The safe environment it offers made it possible for me to grow spiritually, and helped form me into a positive, well-balanced woman that can endure the challenges the world throws at me. |

& I started at Fountain of Life in the year 2000 in Grade 2. & College Entrance Certificate with Exemption. & Completed Grade 12 in June 2009, at the age of 16. & 2010: Completed my first year in Media, Communication and Culture at NMMU. & I would like to study Design and Video Production, and one day aim to be the editor of a magazine. & ACE gave me the opportunity to work at my own pace, and in the disciplined environment I could excel and finish my school career at 16. & It also prepared me to set goals and to prioritize my workload as it was a shock to go into the university world of textbooks and exams. & I appreciate the way that pupils are treated as individuals instead of just a number at Fountain of Life. & I also believe that the ACE system helps students communicate effectively with adults, which helped me in communicating with lecturers when reasoning about my results in tests and projects. & My character was formed by dedicated staff and the leading of the Holy Spirit. Many people said that I would be too young to enter the adult world and would be challenged with peer pressure etc., but I believe that I have been taught to depend on the Holy Spirit to guide and direct me. I also learned during my time at Fountain of Life, that forgiveness brings life and liberty. |

& College Entrance Certificate with Exemption. & My future plans are basically to study animal (specifically dog and cat) behaviour at the Ethology Academy. & After that I'm not certain as yet what exactly I will do, but my end goal is to start an animal shelter of my own. & The thing that I liked the most about ACE is that I was able to work at my own speed and didn't have to wait for the whole class. & It was because of this that I was able to graduate in 2010, at the age of 17. |
